Torispherical head with Omega Pillow Plates
Omega Thermo Products is one of the few suppliers that also supplies Torispherical heads with Pillow Plate under ASME, CE-PED and AD Merkblätter. Many of the bottoms supplied by Omega are used in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry. Also Torispherical heads are used for process tanks, with a full vacuum or high pressure prevailing in the tank.
We generally produce Torispherical dish ends according to DIN 28011. If you want to produce according to different standards, please contact one of our engineers.
Design
After the bottom plate is cut or delivered, we weld the Pillow Plates on the bottom parts. The large radius of the soil is then pressed by a hydraulic press. The small radius is formed by clamping the edge between two steel rollers. The pressed disc rotates from the centre. While the disc rotates, the rollers are slowly brought to a predetermined angle, resulting in a smaller radius. This part of the process is carried out until the desired diameter of the soil is reached. The bottom edge is cut to the right size by means of plasma cutting. If desired, the bottoms can be supplied with a welded side preparation. Only after placing the bottom or lid are the Pillow Plates inflated.
Head volume calculation
The Torispherical head dimensions of a dish produced according to DIN 28011, meet the following conditions:
r1 = Da - large radius of the bottom is equal to the tank diameter.
r2 = 0.1 * Da - the radius of the circumference is 0.1 * the tank diameter
h1 = 3.5 * t - sheet thickness
h 2 = 0.1935 Da - 0.455 s
h3 = h1 + h2
Advantages
Not the entire surface area of the bottom can be provided with Pillow Plate. Around the smallest radius of the circumference (r2), a distance must be observed to prevent damage to the Pillow Plate during pressing. We will advise you and can tell you exactly which area of the surface can be fitted with Pillow Plates.
